My 2025’s Reading List.

I can't believe it took me seven months to start writing again! Honestly, I didn't feel how quickly time was flying by lately, but I'm definitely glad to be back. 2025 marks the fifth year since I resumed reading, and I definitely do not regret my decision. Yes, only the fifth year! The truth is, I've always felt drawn to literature, but during my high school years, I couldn't read more than one or two books per year. Everything changed during the COVID-19 pandemic (one good thing, at least); while we were all trying to keep ourselves busy and afloat, I did so by reconnecting with reading. I started slowly, first with audiobooks, then gradually incorporated more print books and e-books.
So, if you wish to read more or improve your reading habits, here are a few tips from my experience to help you:
audiobooks are also -books!: Don’t feel behind just because you only consume audiobooks. For people with an auditory preference, it might be the format that suits you best.
start with small books: it's easier to finish them, and completing at least one book will boost your confidence to tackle larger ones.
as James Joyce said, life is too short to read a bad book: whenever you start reading a book and you realize it's not what you were expected, feel free to put it down and look for another one.
commit to reading as little as one page per day: eventually, one page will become two, two will become three, and before you know it, you'll be reading ten pages daily.
try sharing the experience with a friend or family member: I did this once in 2021 while reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear and again in 2025 while reading "Never Lie" by Freida McFadden. Not only does it help you stay committed and provide opportunities for real-time idea exchange, but it also strengthens your relationship with your reading partner by giving you shared experiences and new memories.
Without further ado, let me share with you the authors and the books that have been my faithful companions during the year 2025. I hope you will find some inspiration in it.

♡ : Thank you for the gift.
This year, I rediscovered the pleasure of reading fiction books, and I can honestly say it was an incredible experience. I hadn’t realized how much I had missed reading over 50 pages a day and finishing 300-400 page books in less than a week without even noticing. Unsurprisingly, my favorite book of 2025 is "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden. Frankly, she is one of the best authors I have encountered. She is also my most-read author of the year. She is followed by Chidera Eggerue, a Nigerian-British author of "Patriarchy's Worst Nightmare." Reading this book was quite transformative and came at a much-needed moment in my life. I highly recommend both authors.

Since we haven't spoken since last year (literally speaking), this is also an opportunity for me to wish you all a happy new year. I wish you health, joy, and prosperity, and I pray that 2026 will be kind to you and your loved ones.
sincerely,
Mouniirah.
